Meet the Multicultural Health Week 2025 Ambassadors 01

Multicultural Health Week (1-7 September 2025) is just around the corner. NSW Multicultural Health Communication Service (MHCS) is proud to introduce this year’s Multicultural Health Ambassadors who are role models of healthy ageing within culturally and linguistically diverse communities in NSW.

Meet our inspiring Community Ambassadors from the Arabic, Chinese, Greek, and Italian speaking communities who share their personal stories about how they stay healthy, active and socially connected, making a difference in communities.

  • Dimitra Micos OAM – Socially active in the community
  • Amir Salem OAM – Staying physically active
  • Janey Tham – Health is a treasure. Regular medical checks help keep you healthy
  • Maria Pirrello – Healthy eating supports good health

Read their stories.

Older people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds can face challenges when navigating health services, including overcoming language and cultural barriers. Multicultural Health Week 2025 focuses on practical ways we can all support older people in our families and communities. From encouraging regular physical activity and healthy eating, to supporting cancer screening and regular GP visits, small actions can make a big difference.

MHCS is also pleased to introduce our Youth Ambassadors. These young people are stepping up to raise awareness among their peers and families about supporting older people to be healthy and socially connected. Meet our Youth Ambassadors.

Do you have story about how you support yourself or a loved one around healthy ageing and how you help keep older people at the heart of the family and community? Share your story

For Multicultural Health Week 2025, MHCS has partnered again with the NSW Ministry of Health, Cancer Institute NSW and Prevention Education and Research Unit, to deliver important health messages to keep older people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds at the heart of their families and communities.
