So, Martin<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">took to the streets of Holland.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">He&#8217;d place his hat down and sing his heart out, hoping for any donations<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">he could get.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">In 2010, Martin entered a reality TV talent show called &#8220;Holland Has Talent.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">And what do you know &#8212; this ageing singer came in first place and was<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">thrust into the spotlight.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">In the incredible video below, Martin returns to the very streets that gave<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">him the confidence and faith he needed to pursue his dreams.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Though his recording career took off after he won the competition, it&#8217;s as<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">if these passers-by hear his perfect tenor voice for the very first time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">As Martin belts out the classic contemporary hymn,\u00a0<em>You Raise Me Up<\/em>, a<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">stunned crowd gathers around him, wandering up to place money in his hat.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A TRUE AND GREAT STORY &amp; A BEAUTIFUL VOICE &#8211; HE RAISED ME UP\u00a0 Sent to eLanka by\u00a0Lawrence Machado For 35 years, Martin Hurkens made his living as a baker.
