January 9th marks his first death anniversary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">His wife Phyllis says..<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">\u201cI still can\u2019t believe he is gone! We were watching the Test Match together the previous afternoon\u2026.he was totally relaxed and making the usual comments as armchair cricketers do. We teased each other as we backed rival teams. Little did I know what the next day will bring forth. It is as if he just switched off a light and was gone!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">12 months later we are all feeling his loss. Family, friends and fans still find it unbelievable. He was so full of life! He had charm &amp; charisma\u2026. He lit up the stage! His warm personality touched many lives \u2026 not just through his music but that he took time to mentor fellow musicians, to reach out to fans with a personal touch, wishing them on their birthdays or lifting their spirits through song often sharing Dad jokes with family &amp; friends and always being approachable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-107163 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/websitedesigns.com.au\/elankanew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Desmond-De-Silva-4.jpeg\" alt=\"Desmond De Silva\" width=\"383\" height=\"381\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">His wife Phyllis recalls that Desmond never had his phone off and would always answer it no matter if it was in the middle of the night! Often he answered a call from a friend or fan from a different Timezone who were at a party singing and dancing to his music and just needed to connect with him. He always gave them his time. When Phyllis asked him why he answered such calls in the middle of the night his answer was always \u201cEvery fan is important to me\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">His genuineness shone through for those who really knew him. For his wife Phyllis, close family &amp; friends the void he has left can never be filled. He is irreplaceable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">On the 9 th of January 2022 the light dimmed for all those who loved his music.
