Legendary Bambarendage Buddhadasa Srinath Perera, popularly known as BS Perera was born on the 25th<\/sup>\u00a0December 1914 unfortunately had lived only for a period of forty six years , expired on 04th<\/sup>\u00a0March 1960 was the pioneer musician in native Sri Lanka after achieving independence had dominated music in films and Radio Ceylon with his own inimitable\u00a0\u00a0creative styles not copying the Indian dominated music melodies that had conquered then uniquely\u00a0\u00a0improving our own established \u2018Ragadhari\u2019 music. It is reported that BS Perera\u2019s wife had recorded a song initially to a disc\u00a0\u00a0under \u2018Hewa Disc\u2019 which had become non-existent later. The golden oldies\u00a0\u00a0like \u201dDura Penena thanithala\u201d, Sobhana Sandewe\u201d, \u201dOlu Nelum Nelum Neliya Rangala\u201d ,\u201d Sudu Sanda Eliye\u201d,\u201dSina Sisi\u201d, \u201dMaage Pemwatha\u2019 ,\u2019 Manu Satha Loke Ipadee\u201d, \u201c Dura Penena Thenithala\u201d .\u201dOlu Male Hisudo \u201c \u201cOlu Nelum Neriya Rangala\u201d ,\u201dDewlowa Deviyane\u201d , \u201c Gala Kandehi Mathuwela\u201d ,\u201dAdara Nadiya Gala\u201d, are among many the captivating music melodies and compositions were BS Perera\u2019s exclusive hits which are still in the feelings and minds of all Sri Lankans etched in gold. All these songs were sung by veteran artistes including Mohideen Beg, Rukmani Devi ,Eddie Jayamanne,Sisira Senaratna, Indrani Senaratne, Sheela Pieris\u00a0\u00a0recorded mostly on HMV discs. All the above songs were sung by talented novice vocalists during the Sirasa TV felicitation program \u201cSajjayana\u201d for legendary artistes. Other songs that BS Perera had made music compositions are \u201c Muhudu Pathula Yata Indala\u201d, \u201cPape Gilila\u201d, \u201c Sithude Lowe\u201d, Wana Bambara Pem Mala Athaherala\u201d,\u201d Sudu Sanda Eliye\u201d, \u201cWesak Kekulu\u201d ,\u201dHada Siduru Wuna Mage\u2019,, \u201cWana Male Pini\u201d, \u201dSithu De Lowe\u201d etc. All these songs will reminisce easily for those in their sixties and seventies which need to be preserved for posterity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0Most of recordings of BS Perera were recorded under HMV discs as the music director of HMV Company. Subsequently\u00a0\u00a0BS Perera had recorded a number of songs of CT Fernando on HMV discs like \u2018Ambili Mame\u201d, \u201cBara Bage\u201d, \u201cDen Tika Tika Andura Wetenawa\u201d,\u201dSuwanda Rosa Mal\u201d etc , BS Perera\u2019s some songs were also recorded in \u2018Columbia\u2019 , \u201cHis Masters Voice\u201d discs too. All his songs have added to the list of initial Sri Lankan music philosophy which still loiter amongst the interior of us for well over seven decades.BS Perera had received prompt attention of legendary Sunil Shantha for some melodies as then \u2018frustrated\u2019 Sunil Shantha did not indulge in full time music having deliberated him to be the nations best musician. BS Perera was described as Sri Lanka\u2019s most mighty robust pillar in music competent as an proficient lyricist too.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
