The amputation was done in the Colombo hospital and they had no way to get back to Tangalla other than by bus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">That same evening I was in Melbourne and I had a visitor. An old friend from my younger days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">When leaving he gave me some money, quite a lot, and said \u201cElmo Aiyata Ona deyak karanna\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">He knew about CandleAid and knew we worked with the poor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Dil immediately got on her computer and transferred the money to CandleAid and that was for Nadeesha and family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">That money was used to hire a car for Nadeesha to go home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">There was a balance, that will be used to buy them food. The husband cannot work yet, he has to care for Nadeesha and the children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">CandleAid will take care of them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">We have to, otherwise who are we as human beings?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">\u00a0This is our daily life.
