It is now famous as a place of tourist interest too. But let\u2019s focus on as to how the name Anamaduwa came into being.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">At the time this area was nothing but a jungle and it became a popular place for hunting. People believe that there are jungles in Sri Lanka where hunters get lost and struggle for days to get out of the forest.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Such stories are common even today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/anamaduwa\/videos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-118967 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/scontent.fcmb2-2.fna.fbcdn.net\/v\/t39.30808-6\/307326975_599451288640416_2641160646039736946_n.jpg?_nc_cat=100&amp;cb=99be929b-3346023f&amp;ccb=1-7&amp;_nc_sid=09cbfe&amp;_nc_ohc=DBJMbe29K_4AX-zHn2Z&amp;_nc_ht=scontent.fcmb2-2.fna&amp;oh=00_AfAzLRxzLL59VOwsb2DNTQG-seBOdBNP0sGMglOUViTARw&amp;oe=64CCADC2\" alt=\"anamaduwa\" width=\"600\" height=\"412\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">The reason for getting lost is attributed to a certain creeper found in the forest. The belief is that, if the hunters or anyone entering the jungle trample these creepers, they become confused and loose their way. Therefore, these creepers are named \u201c\u0db8\u0dd4\u0dbd\u0dcf \u0dc0\u0dd0\u0dbd\u0dca\u201d (Mula Vel). The meaning of it is \u201cthe creepers that confuse\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">The story is that when a group of hunters entered this forest they got lost in it trampling the \u201cMula Vel\u201d and struggled to find the way out. Then a heavy rain began and continued for days. The only way they could protect themselves was by erecting a hut on a tree top as the jungle began to flood.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Once they got to the hut on the tree, they saw the direction they mut move to get out of the forest. So, after the rain they were successful in finding the way out. Thereafter this hut served as a sign of direction to the people that went to the jungle for hunting. They began to point to the shed and in Sinhala language they said \u201cAnna Maduwa Penenava\u201d meaning \u201cThere you see the hut\u201d. Over time, \u201cAnna Maduwa\u201d became \u201cAnamaduwa\u201d PS: There are other versions to the name &#8220;Anamaduwa&#8217;.
