color: #000000;\">The traditional handing over the report\u00a0 after the completion of the Kandy Esala Ritual ( though it is called the Pageantry of Sri Lanka ) tot he Head of State since 1753 was continued by handing over the report to President Ranil Wickrmasinghe at Janadipathi Mandiraya which was the Manor House of P:ilamatalwa Adige turned over to house the Governors of Ceylon then by the British.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\"><em>Diyawadana Nilame reading the reprot<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">The President Ranil Wickramasinghe stood on\u00a0 the steps of the Jandiapathi Mandiriya where all Heads of State had stood\u00a0 to receive the report from the Diyawadsana Nilame ( custodian of the Sacred Tooth Relic ) after the completion of the Kandy Esala Perahera Ritual performed as a offering to the Sacred Tooth Relic .<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">The Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela with the Basnayake Nilmes of\u00a0 Devales ( the abode of Gods and Goddess ) came in format to present themselves before the President Ranil Wikcramasinghe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">The spouses of\u00a0the Nilames accompanied separately.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">The commencement was the receiving of the report of the Diyawadana Nilame at the entrance on the\u00a0 steps of the Janadipathi Mandiraya once the Manor House of Pilamatalawa Maha Adikaram which had been the spot that the report had been handed over the years\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-120711 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/websitedesigns.com.au\/elankanew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Celebrating-Tradition-and-Culture-The-Annual-Handover-Ceremony-at-Janadipathi-Mandiraya-By-L.B.Senaratne-elanka-5-e1693823703696.png\" alt=\"Celebrating Tradition and Culture The Annual Handover Ceremony at Janadipathi Mandiraya - By L.B.Senaratne\" width=\"600\" height=\"567\" \/><em><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 16px;\">The address by His Excellency the President.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Then it was a distribution of awards for the artistes who captured thousands\u00a0of devotees lined up to pay reverence\u00a0to the Golden Karandujwa, with their resplendent dancing and traditional\u00a0music on drums and flutes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Then the Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela read his report in the main Hall where Governors, Governor Generals&#8217; and Presidents have heard and commented on the reports of the Diyawadana Nilame&#8217;s over the years<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;
