The NSW Government extends its sympathies to the family of Dr GK Harinath following his passing.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr Harinath, was a pivotal figure within the multicultural community of NSW, and his legacy will be remembered for years to come.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A message from the NSW Premier:<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with great sadness that I acknowledge the passing of a remarkable person, Dr GK Harinath OAM.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDr Hari, as he was known, joined the Multicultural NSW Advisory Board in July 2013, becoming Chairperson in September 2014, a position he held for 8 years until 30 June 2022.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAs the esteemed Chairperson of Multicultural NSW, as well as Cricket NSW, Dr Harinath\u2019s influence and leadership roles reflect a life dedicated to service.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHis remarkable contribution to multicultural communities in NSW stands unparalleled.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of the NSW Government, I express our condolences to his wife Gayathri, his children and all his family.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMay he rest in peace.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

A message from the Minister for Multiculturalism:
\n<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDr Harinath OAM was a respected and admired community leader in NSW, one who has left an indelible footprint on the multicultural sector.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe was awarded on Order of Australia Medal in the 2009 Queen\u2019s Birthday Honours for service to cricket through executive roles at the state and national level, and to the community.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe was also awarded the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman (Medal) by the President of India in 2017, the highest honour conferred to Indians living overseas.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe had a remarkable journey and we thank Dr Hari for all his incredible contributions to our State.<\/span><\/p>\n

I offer my deepest condolences to Dr Hari\u2019s family.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with a heavy heart that we bid farewell to our Emeritus Chair, Dr GK Harinath OAM and my very good friend.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAt Multicultural NSW, Dr Hari was the valued leader of our Advisory Board for eight years. He was incredibly passionate about giving young people a voice as well as about gender equity.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAs a person, Dr Hari was a generous, warm and humble leader and a long time mentor to me, as well as to many people in the community.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe outpouring of messages shows just how valued and respected Dr Hari was. He leaves an extraordinary legacy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI send my love to his wife Gayathri, his children Neeta and Vikram and their families.<\/span><\/p>\n
