This year\u2019s competition was open to IELTS-takers living in Sri Lanka, China, Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Nepal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Following a rigorous application and selection, process six winners from Sri Lanka were awarded the highly coveted cash prize :\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">1st Prize \u2013 Suhashie Thalgaspitiya<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">2nd prize \u2013 Dileepa Gamage<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">2nd prize \u2013 Raveesha Wickramasinghe<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">3rd prize \u2013 Kushadini Mallawaarachchi<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">3rd prize \u2013 Mohammed Raslan<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">3rd prize \u2013 Benjamin Tharmaratnam<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Orlando Edwards, Director of British Council Sri Lanka was present at the ceremony to hand over the awards and also congratulate the winners on a job well done. <em>\u201cAs well as facilitating students\u2019 academic pursuits in worldclass educational institutions, the IELTS Prize grants them the freedom to travel to new countries, immerse themselves in new cultures, and become part of a global IELTS community,\u201d<\/em>\u202fhe said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Future applicants from Sri Lanka who wish to find out more information about the prize, the application process, and review frequently asked questions, should visit: <a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/takeielts.britishcouncil.org\/take-ielts\/study-work-abroad\/ielts-prize\">https:\/\/takeielts.britishcouncil.org\/take-ielts\/study-work-abroad\/ielts-prize<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\"><strong>About IELTS<\/strong>\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the world\u2019s most popular English language proficiency test for higher education and global migration.
