\u201c Hope is a waking dream\u201d \u2013 Aristotle\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Christmas<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Today the world is in turmoil!<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Still recovering from the Pandemic, there are devastating consequences of conflict and the scourge of climate change, to contend with.. \u00a0Also \u00a0the unprovoked attack on innocent civilians and hostage taking, has resulted in \u00a0uncertainty, torment and anguish.<\/span><\/p>\n

These together with the unbridgeable vacuum created by personal loss, pain and suffering, is visibly palpable.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Loss of direction in the lives of those affected by these tragic events, will haunt them for the rest of their lives. They will be\u00a0 harbouring immeasurable hatred, towards their aggressor. \u00a0So, as we prepare to \u2018deck the halls with boughs of holly and switch on\u00a0 the twinkling lights of the decorated \u00a0Christmas tree, the question that will be foremost in our minds is, \u201c is there any hope for Peace in this fragmented world we live in\u201d ?<\/span><\/p>\n

At the time of the birth of Jesus, that first Christmas too, there was political and religious turmoil. That cold night, the \u00a0angels conveyed this \u00a0message of peace to the World, through the poor shepherds tending their flock.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGlory to God in the Highest and Peace, on Earth toward \u2018men\u2019 \u201c<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0More than ever, this Glorious message is\u00a0 key, for the world today. \u00a0Christmas also brings a message of Love, because, God gave his only Begotten Son, to save the world ( 1 John 2.10). Such love, has the potential to dispel hatred and bring about Peace and reconciliation in the world, including the holiest of Christian and Jewish religious sites, namely Bethlehem Nazareth, where Jesus was born, lived preached and died.<\/span><\/p>\n

Central message of Christmas is the Birth of Jesus \u2013 \u00a0it is the new life, that brings Hope. It calls us \u00a0to escape self centeredness and focus on the plight of others \u2013 those caught up in this tragic war and natural disasters,\u00a0 the displaced,\u00a0 homeless\u00a0 and the lonely.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hence, we must approach this Christmas inspired\u00a0 by, the challenges \u00a0of baby Jesus, covered in swaddling clothes laid in the manger.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also,\u00a0 we must be encouraged by the sensitivity of Joseph, and the courage of Mary, in\u00a0 protecting baby Jesus, from the murderous intent of Herod and \u00a0the wisdom of the foreign visitors who,\u00a0 ignoring Herod\u2019s instructions, \u00a0navigated different route, on their return journey,from Bethlehem.<\/span><\/p>\n

With this rich legacy \u00a0of that first Christmas, surely, \u2018 Our dream for Peace\u2019 \u00a0in the World, must \u00a0still be a reality.<\/span><\/p>\n
