Robinson. He based the hymn on\u00a0<u>Colossians<\/u>\u00a03:3. (For you died,\u00a0and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">He is known in hymn history for this one hymn in particular,\u00a0<em>I Am His and He Is Mine<\/em>\u00a0(or\u00a0<em>Loved with\u00a0<\/em><em><u>Everlasting Love<\/u><\/em>), published in 1876. He wrote this hymn one year before his death at the age of 39.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">I couldn\u2019t find much about Mr. Robinson\u2019s life or death, nor any particular story behind this song.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know if he died suddenly in a tragic accident, or if he died after an extended battle with illness.\u00a0 What I do know is that his words reflect a confidence in God.\u00a0 I really appreciate the confidence that Mr. Robinson speaks of when he talks about whom he belonged to.\u00a0 His words communicate to me that he was a man who knew where he was going.\u00a0 I pray that I can echo that kind of confidence to people in this world that, often times have no idea where they are going to spend eternity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">The scripture that immediately comes to my mind is Jeremiah 31:3 \u2013\u00a0<em>\u201cThe Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Perhaps no doctrine in Scripture is as clearly stated as that expressed in Jeremiah 31:3 and in many other passages. God loves us! His love is an \u201ceverlasting love\u201d and compels Him to act strongly and lovingly on our behalf. \u201cHerein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins\u201d (<u>1 John<\/u>\u00a04:10).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/quotefancy.com\/veronica-roth-quotes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-127574 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com\/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRanLxvbUyXtyGfoeNqKmdP_txO3V0gsCBjZ2CJEutP8C1ZiQ56\" alt=\"Christianity\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\"><em>Image Source :\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/quotefancy.com\/veronica-roth-quotes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">quotefancy<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Couple of comments on the lyrics:&#8211;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\"><strong><em><u>Loved with everlasting love:<\/u><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 The\u00a0<u>love of God<\/u>\u00a0towards us cannot be measured or quantified. It started way from the beginning and will never end. It is everlasting. What is more amazing, is the we we led by grace to know that love. The\u00a0<u>God of Love<\/u>\u00a0himself made sure that we come to experience his own love. He first loved us, sent Christ to die for us while we were yet in sin. And while on earth, he sought us and found us. What manner of \u00a0love is this?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\"><strong><em><u>\u201cChristless eyes have never seen\u201d<\/u><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Do you see the world differently than unbelievers?\u00a0 Is the sky bluer, or the grass greener because you are a Christian?\u00a0 I don\u2019t believe that was exactly what the author was talking about in Verse 2 of this song.\u00a0 I do believe, however, that there is a difference in perception and vision for those that follow Christ.\u00a0 We should look for, and find, God\u2019s mercy in difficult times.\u00a0 We should look for, and find, blessings in the darkest of hours.\u00a0 We should see the trials and tribulations of this world with through different colored lenses since we no longer have \u201cChristless\u201d eyes.\u00a0 Our eyes have been opened.\u00a0\u00a0<u>Grace<\/u>\u00a0has been lavished upon us.\u00a0 We are now sons and daughters of God.\u00a0 That truth should change how we see God\u2019s creation, and how we see the experiences that we go through.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\"><strong><em><u>\u201cClosed in everlasting arms, pillowed on the loving breast\u201d<\/u><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 I get the mental image of an infant sleeping in the arms of his father.\u00a0 Totally at peace.\u00a0\u00a0 Totally at rest.\u00a0 The arms and the chest of the father providing the greatest comfort that baby could ever have.\u00a0 Because of the comfort found in the father\u2019s arms, there are no worries.\u00a0 The baby can sleep will full assurance of the father\u2019s love.\u00a0 Isn\u2019t that how our Father in heaven is?\u00a0 His arms pull us close during difficult times.\u00a0 The Comforter comes to give that peace and rest that only He can give.\u00a0 The love of the Father for His children is so great, that we can rest in the assurance that He will take good care of us.\u00a0 What a wonderful picture!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\"><strong><em><u>His forever, only His: Who the Lord and me shall part?<\/u><\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Indeed who shall separate us from the love of God. We are convinced that neither death nor principalities shall ever pluck us out of the palm of God.
