Admiral Ranasinghe also served as the Secretary to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping &amp; Southern Development in 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">He is an Anti-Submarine Warfare Specialist, trained at INS Venduruthy, Kochi. He completed his Defence Services Staff Course in Wellington, India, and attended the War Course at the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad, Pakistan, as well as the National Defence Course at the National Defence College in New Delhi, India.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe was born in Anuradhapura and first joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1982. He underwent basic training at the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee and the Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth, England (1984\u20131985).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">He holds an MSc in Defence and Strategic Studies (First Class) from the University of Madras (2000), an MSc in War Studies and Defence Management (Second Upper) from the National Defence University, Islamabad, and an MPhil in Defence and Strategic Studies (First Class) from the University of Madras (2013).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">He is a recipient of the \u2018Weera Wickrama Vibhushanaya\u2019, the \u2018Rana Wikrama Padakkama\u2019 for gallantry, and the \u2018Vishishta Seva Vibhushanaya\u2019 and \u2018Uttama Seva Padakkama\u2019 for his unblemished service.
