He said they are expecting teams from Melbourne to compete for the trophies this year.<\/span><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">\u201cWe started the inaugural event in 2021, which featured over 100 players from multicultural backgrounds,\u201d Fonseka said. \u201cFrom 2022 to 2024, the tournament expanded to include\u00a0<u>over\u00a040 age-group\u00a0(Seniors)<\/u>\u00a0\u00a0teams, attracting more than 200 players each year.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">\u201cThis year, we are continuing to grow the number of participating teams, further cementing the event as a key fixture in Sydney&#8217;s community sports calendar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-148757 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/websitedesigns.com.au\/elankanew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Exciting-Touch-Footy-Cup-Action-In-Sydney-By-Lawrence-Machado-2-scaled-e1738914001309.jpg\" alt=\"Exciting Touch Footy Cup Action In Sydney - By Lawrence Machado\" width=\"600\" height=\"510\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">\u201cThe tournament, run in two categories, also draws an enthusiastic crowd of 300-400 spectators, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Fonseka said the SLTFC is a multicultural touch footy club which is keen promote the sport among young and old in The Hills Shire District. \u201cWe started as a group of individuals playing touch footy on Sundays and progressed to become a structured club supported by Touch Football Australia,\u201d Fonseka said.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-148756 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/websitedesigns.com.au\/elankanew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Exciting-Touch-Footy-Cup-Action-In-Sydney-By-Lawrence-Machado-1-e1738913926542.jpeg\" alt=\"Exciting Touch Footy Cup Action In Sydney - By Lawrence Machado\" width=\"600\" height=\"725\" \/><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Fonseka, who studied at Trinity College, Kandy, said it all started back in the late 1990s with some friendly touch football at the West Epping Park. He said their group is a mix of players with Australian, Sri Lankan, South Asian and Pacific Islander heritage, all who call The Hills Shire their home.<\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">\u201cFor many years, we were without a proper ground to play, shuffling between Ted Harwood Reserve, North Rocks and Fred Caterson Reserve, Castle Hill,\u201d Fonseka said. \u201cThanks to Parramatta Eels, we now have a temporary home at Kellyville Memorial Park for Sunday evening social touch.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-148753 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/websitedesigns.com.au\/elankanew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Exciting-Touch-Footy-Cup-Action-In-Sydney-By-Lawrence-Machado-2.png\" alt=\"Exciting Touch Footy Cup Action In Sydney - By Lawrence Machado\" width=\"344\" height=\"229\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\"><b>FIRST LANKAN TOUCH FOOTBALL CUP<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">&#8220;After playing\u00a0touch football\u00a0for over two decades in the Hills and Parramatta districts, we decided to organise the Sri Lankan Touch Football Cup in 2021 with the participation\u00a0of Sri Lankan Old Boys Associations (OBAs) in Sydney, including Trinity, Royal, Wesley, St Anthony&#8217;s, Dharmaraja, Isipathana, S.
