IS EXPECTATION OF WARLESS WORLD A PIPE DREAM ? – By N.S.Venkataraman<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

\"IS<\/p>\n

\"N.S.Venkataraman\"Conflicts and wars \u00a0have been taking place over centuries of human existence, in spite of several religious scriptures, \u00a0saints and scholars advocating peace and harmony.\u00a0 This scenario lead to suspicion that violent approach \u00a0are in the mindset of humans, \u00a0just like they are in the mindset of most animals. Just like every animal constantly trying to protect itself \u00a0against attack and violence by humans and \u00a0other animals, it appears that the humans have also been\u00a0 having the same instinct as that of the animals.<\/span><\/p>\n

One cannot blame animals for their violent prone\u00a0 behaviour, since it is considered to be part of \u00a0their natural instinct,\u00a0 as the\u00a0 animals \u00a0are devoid of the sixth sense that humans are supposed to possess.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 However, \u00a0such justification for violence by animals cannot be and should not be made \u00a0applicable to humans, who are supposed to be\u00a0 \u201csuperior class\u201d\u00a0 of\u00a0 God\u2019s creations.<\/span><\/p>\n

The struggle for peace has continued in the world for the last several centuries without success, even as the wars too have been happening.<\/span><\/p>\n

Apart from several conflicts and wars that have been \u00a0taking\u00a0 place from time immemorial , \u00a0the biggest ones in the world history\u00a0 are the World War I\u00a0 and world War II.\u00a0 After the end of World War I, the\u00a0\u00a0 importance of peace was not realised by the\u00a0 governments and then World War II happened.\u00a0 Millions of people fought and died during these wars.In the subsequent period , it has been seen that these wars have achieved nothing worthwhile and efforts of those who indulged themselves in the war process are futile exercise with the loss of valuable human lives.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the end of World War II, valiant efforts were \u00a0made to create a world peace forum christened as United Nations Organisation. But, this has not helped the cause of world peace in any significant way and \u00a0the result has only been that there is \u00a0a forum now\u00a0\u00a0 for the representatives of various government to blame, argue and finally to pay lip service for world peace.\u00a0 It is widely recognised that UNO has now been reduced to a mere discussion forum\u00a0 or a debating club or both.<\/span><\/p>\n

Several violent conflicts and wars \u00a0have taken place since World War II and now the Ukraine Russia war and\u00a0 Hamas Israel war is the topic of the day.\u00a0 As usual, there are voices being heard calling for cessation of these two ongoing wars and \u00a0\u00a0again as usual, \u00a0those involved in the war \u00a0\u00a0claim that these wars are being\u00a0\u00a0 waged to avenge injustice and ultimately to ensure peace\u00a0 by subduing one party \u00a0or the other. \u00a0\u00a0The justification for the wars \u201cto end war\u201d\u00a0 is an atrocious claim.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Several fruitless wars and consequent sufferings to the world community due to such wars have not made\u00a0 the governments \u00a0\u00a0across the world to realise that conflicts and wars really aid no one and victory or defeat are meaningless pursuits.<\/span><\/p>\n

Behind all these conflicts and wars,\u00a0 there are leaders of governments in various countries who are all the time obsessed by the fear of being over powered\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 due to \u00a0possible\u00a0 war that may happen\u00a0\u00a0 from near or far.\u00a0 At the present time, observations have been made that future wars in the world would be \u201cdrone wars\u201d,\u00a0 which possibility have made\u00a0\u00a0 every country in the world to ensure greater sophistication in the techniques of warfare.\u00a0 In other words,\u00a0 the results of technology are proving to be negative.<\/span><\/p>\n

Historical events\u00a0 seem to \u00a0indicate \u00a0that wars can \u00a0not be stopped in the world \u00a0, given the fact that animal like violent prone attitude continue to prevail amongst humans too.\u00a0\u00a0 The constant theory is that to stop the wars in the world, the struggle for peace has to be waged in the minds of men and women.\u00a0 This has not happened in the last several centuries and\u00a0 discerning observers think that it would be a pipe dream for anyone to believe that lasting peace without war would happen in the world \u00a0at anytime in future, \u00a0given \u00a0the fact that the mind of humans remain unchanged<\/span><\/p>\n

The ground reality is that \u00a0\u00a0while phenomenal material progress in the world has happened due to developments in science and technology, the mind of humans remain unreformed and there is no indication that it would become better at anytime. The\u00a0 peace advocates\u00a0 will continue to have their own place in the world talking and writing eloquently but their efforts are unlikely to have any impact at significant and measurable level\u00a0 on the ground, as the human mind appear to be incorrrigible<\/span><\/p>\n

It is not\u00a0 progressive thought process to conclude that prospects for peace in the world is an utopian expectation.\u00a0 Historically, just as wars have been taking place, the cry for peace have also been heard continuously.This trend is likely to continue for ever. \u00a0\u00a0Hope for the world peace appears to be an eternal exercise.<\/span><\/p>\n
