color: #000000;\">It is a huge and tremendous rock formation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">If you love travelling, although you have visited many places in the world, my opinion is that you should hike Pidurangala rock which is located in the Sigiriya Village.\u00a0 I must mention here that it is quite difficult.\u00a0 However, if you are looking for an incredible view and further experience to your life you can get it from Pdurangala Rock.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">It is a huge and tremendous rock formation situated\u00a0 a few kilometers away from Sigiriya in Sri Lanka.\u00a0 The interesting history related to Prince Kashyapa discloses another hide out where the Prince made the palace on a prominent location.\u00a0 However climbing up to Pidurangala rock is bit of a difficult task but most of the tourists are seen often climbing this massive rock with more interest.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-152028 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/websitedesigns.com.au\/elankanew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Pidurangala-Temple-1-e1745418904292.jpg\" alt=\"Pidurangala Temple and The Cave in Sri Lanka By Leelananda Ihalagamage\" width=\"600\" height=\"412\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">According to the history, Pidurangala Temple goes back beyond the 2nd Century BC, which had been used as a Buddhist Monastery and had become a prominent place during the reign of Sinhalese King Kashyapa.\u00a0 The temple was constructed on a massive rock called Pidurangala.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">When King Dhatusena was murdered by his son Prince Kashyapa, he himself fled to Sigiriya to find out a secure place to prevent any attack from his brother Prince Mugalan.\u00a0 At that time Bhikkus had been using Pidurangala cave for meditations.\u00a0 And King Kashyapa refurbished the temple and made it a spectacular place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Pidurangala was derived from the Sinhala word \u201cpidu + ran + goda\u201d in English it means\u00a0 \u201coffered piles of gold\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-152026 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/websitedesigns.com.au\/elankanew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Pidurangala-Temple-3-e1745418869420.jpg\" alt=\"Pidurangala Temple and The Cave in Sri Lanka By Leelananda Ihalagamage\" width=\"600\" height=\"402\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">At the main entrance to Pidurangala the old Temple was built in 1930s.\u00a0 However, climbing up to Pidurangala Rock is more difficult than climbing Sigiriya.\u00a0 That is why you should be prepared before beginning to climb the rock.\u00a0 Since it will take at least 2 hours, you must be healthy and fit also fearless.\u00a0 It is advisable to wear steady shoes (probably canvas) and keep spare bottles of drinking water, cream-cracker or savoury biscuits.\u00a0 Start your journey early in the morning or late afternoon.\u00a0 Stop somewhere and take a rest time to time if needed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">You may witness historical marvels like Sigiriya, Dambulla Temple but climbing Pidurangala is a natural wonder.\u00a0 Pidurangala is not only a Temple, but is a way more for being right next to Sigiriya and offering a stunning view of the Sigiriya.\u00a0 Both rocks are of nearly the same height.\u00a0 Sigiriya rises 200 meters abouve the surrounding jungles and Pidurangala is said to be one meter shorter.\u00a0 Pidurangala is particularly beautiful at sun rise.\u00a0 That includes climbing up in the dark but being rewarded with a most beautiful view of a golden land at sun rise.\u00a0 It can be seen around at 6 a.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-152027 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/websitedesigns.com.au\/elankanew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Pidurangala-Temple-2-e1745418883794.jpg\" alt=\"Pidurangala Temple and The Cave in Sri Lanka By Leelananda Ihalagamage\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">This climging has very steep irregular steps leading to a landing.\u00a0 This exercise is a bit of difficult task, as you climb up you will feel so tired due to there being no clear path or steps or stairs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;
