RUSSIA AND CHINA PROVE \u201cMIGHT IS RIGHT\u201d – By N.S.Venkataraman<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

\"RUSSIA<\/p>\n

\"N.S.Venkataraman\"Israel \u00a0continues to attack Gaza, even though most part of Gaza and nearby regions have been devastated by bombing by Israel over the last several months. Still, many people seem to think that Israel is a victim of onslaught and attack by Hamas, as \u00a0Hamas invaded Israel and killed hundreds of Israel citizens and captured number of them as hostages.. Some of the hostages have died and\u00a0 some of them are still kept without being released by Hamas.<\/span><\/p>\n

In this case, Israel has not started the \u00a0war but only reacted to the violence unleashed on Israel by Hamas ,who are\u00a0 widely viewed as Islamic terrorists , though Hamas claim that they are liberators. Israel is deemed to be a defender.<\/span><\/p>\n

Russia\u2019s aggression over Ukraine viewed differently :<\/u><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

However, when Russia continues to attack Ukraine , even after substantial part of Ukraine has been devastated , several infrastructure projects destroyed , thousands of Ukraine citizens have died and millions of people have gone out of Ukraine as refugees to other countries to save themselves from Russian attack.\u00a0 Certainly, the world views the attack and aggression by Russia against Ukraine differently from the way the world views the attack by Israel against Hamas.<\/span><\/p>\n

Russia thinks\u00a0 \u201cmight is right\u201d<\/u><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In the case of Ukraine Russia war, Russia is clearly the aggressor as it has started the war. Russia started attacking Ukraine justifying that it has to do so to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO.\u00a0 But, the ground reality was that NATO never decided to admit Ukraine and all that has been done by Ukraine was only to request NATO to admit Ukraine as member. So many other countries bordering Russia\u00a0 are now members of NATO and Russia has not objected to this. Obviously, Russia wanted an excuse to attack Ukraine and occupy atleast some regions in Ukraine.\u00a0 Russia\u2019s so called apprehension about Ukraine joining NATO was only an excuse.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ukraine has been able to survive brutal attack from Russia so far, \u00a0only due to the support extended by European Union, UK , and USA. However, with Trump taking over as President of USA , the scenario has completely changed with Trump openly supporting Russia and has now even gone to the extent of stating that \u00a0Crimea in Ukraine should stay with Russia . In short , Trump wants Ukraine to virtually surrender to Russian aggression\u00a0 and Trump wants Russia to enjoy the fruits of aggression.<\/span><\/p>\n

One gets an impression that President Trump also seems to\u00a0 think \u00a0that might is right, just \u00a0like Russia .<\/span><\/p>\n

China too thinks might is right :<\/u><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

China\u2019s aggression of Tibet , which it has been occupying for last several decades with tight grip , \u00a0is yet another incident to prove that might is right in the world.\u00a0 China aggressively entered Tibet , massacred thousands of Tibetans who protested and is now sitting pretty in Tibet\u00a0\u00a0 and having \u00a0its hold over this helpless country wholly and totally.<\/span><\/p>\n

When China entered Tibet, there was no worthwhile protest\u00a0 from other countries including India and Tibet was left to suffer and at the mercy of China.. While some criticisms have been levelled against Chinese aggression over Tibet, China has treated such world opinion with contempt just like Russia is doing now.<\/span><\/p>\n

World Civilisation –\u00a0 A far cry :<\/u><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This above scenario clearly highlights that in the world today, the countries and\u00a0 terrorist groups\u00a0 , which have muscle power and strong military power can call the shots. The present condition further show that such aggressors\u00a0 \u00a0do not care about the world opinion and the world view and whatever the criticisms and observations made by UNO are impotent and\u00a0 are of no consequence.<\/span><\/p>\n

From time immemorial, violence and wars have bene happening in the world and obviously, \u00a0the mental make up of humans have not undergone any change \u00a0at all. It appears that it is established rule in the world that might is right and the weak has to necessarily suffer and submit against those who think that they can attack the weak and get away with it.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0In such circumstances, any claim that world civilisation has improved or progressed is a view in vacuum and a hollow claim.<\/span><\/p>\n

The technology and scientific development\u00a0 have not touched the mind set of the humans to make them more civilised. While a few\u00a0 peace lovers\u00a0\u00a0 and deep thinkers and saints have been\u00a0 preaching peace and harmony, they are only cry in the wilderness.<\/span><\/p>\n
