Geoffrey Bawa was born on July 23, 1919<\/strong>, in Colombo, Sri Lanka (then Ceylon), into a wealthy, multicultural family. His father, Justice B.W. Bawa, was of Muslim descent, while his mother was of European and Sinhalese ancestry.
