Amiththa had attended the nursery at Bishop\u2019s College, thereafter for a few years had been educated at Carey College Colombo 8 then has had secondary education at Thurstan College Colombo 7. Amiththa had come from stage to films and then to the small screen excelling in all forms of art which is embedded within him not of course with hereditary affiliations though his grandmother had portrayed small roles in \u00a0films. Amiththa had originally portrayed roles in \u2018Thurumpu\u2019,\u2019Vikurthi\u2019 stage plays thereafter in the children\u2019s film \u2018Sudda\u2019. It was thereafter he was invited to portray a role in the teledrama \u2018Lahiri Dahasak\u2019 as the youngest sibling in the family.<\/span><\/p>\n

After which was invited to portray roles in a series of teledramas as such became a pursued after actor. In this manner had portrayed vivid roles in \u2018Mawakage Geethaya\u2019, \u2018Yashorawaya\u2019, \u2018Charitha Thunak\u2019, \u2018Sohoyura\u2019,\u2019Adisi\u2019, \u2018Meeduma\u2019, \u2018Teacher Amma\u2019, \u2018Ravana\u201d,\u201d Crime Scene\u2019,\u2019Gamperaliya\u2019, \u2018Nidikumba Mal\u2019, \u2018Anuththara\u2019, \u2018Madol Duwa\u2019, \u2018 Sangili Palama\u2019, \u2018 Sivi Mansala\u2019,\u2019Sohoyuro\u2019,etc in a number of celebrated tele dramas as a hunted after actor.<\/span><\/p>\n

When the stories of the above teledramas are perused it obviously appears that most stories are extracted \u00a0from the correlated books published in that era hence all f them have drawn a huge enthusiasm from viewers as then only a very teledrama\u2019s were telecast unlike today. Amiththa has recollected in a media dialog that when one reads the novel \u2018Gamperaliya\u2019 the role of Tissa portrayed by Amiththa strikes the mind of viewers, though it had passed decades the readers reminisce Amiththa\u2019s role which was excellently depicted. This was of course at an era when technology was not developed then, but it was very well coordinated by the entire crew To make it a masterpiece it needs \u00a0a stunning effort by the entire crew. To evoke the role of Tissa portrayed by Amiththa is identical to Tissa\u2019s behaviour in the novel, which all viewers would have been amazed to witness also imagined to be. In the teledrama although Tissa had made many sacrifices to his family he was not given any recognition. However while portraying the role of Tissa it looked as Amiththa was living within the anticipated portrayal.<\/span><\/div>\n

Another character of Amiththa Weerasinghe portrayed where he drew the love of all audiences was that of \u201cPodda\u201d in the vastly viewed teledrama \u2018Yashorawaya\u2019.As the much younger brother of Lucky Dias, Amiththa had portrayed his role to precision although Lucky Dias was then \u00a0a mature actor. In this teledrama the role of Suratissa is imprinted and etched in gold as a cherished character making it a \u2018brand\u201din the archives of the teledramas since inception.<\/span><\/p>\n

Recalling the role in the teledrama \u2018Mawakage Geethaya\u2019 too Amiththa once more portrayed the role of the youngest sibling. It need to be reminisced the stern role Amiththa portrayed in the teledrama directed by Malini Fonseka which was similar to his portrayed in the teledrama \u2018Yashorawaya\u2019 The roles Amiththa had portrayed as \u2018Baladewa\u2019, and Suratissa\u2019 were both formidable characters which won him the best supporting actor awards deservedly..More recently in the year 2022 portrayed a conspicuous role though not the main role an experimental portrayal as a medical doctor living in this world and hell in the teledrama Nirsathwoya along with many well-known artistes.During his career to date he has been bestowed with many roles as a family member not as a lover. The character in \u201cRawana\u2019 teledrama was portrayed after much study and research as always was depicted having studying the script well is a role model to all new comers to acting.\u00a0 Amiththa was offered vivid roles in films like \u2018Giriwesipura\u2019, \u2018Nattami Armi\u201d \u201cKoko\u2019 etc in which justice to his roles were rendered.<\/span><\/p>\n

Amiththa maintains his individuality always, do not accept invitations to reality\u00a0 singing competitions, to judge beauty contests and new year celebrating functions, hence is \u00a0unique as a respected artiste also not seen on the mini screen too often.Amiththa is very unpretentious, humble , intelligent and down to earth. When studying his acting career, one would feel whether he received a deserved accolades and position which is regrettable Amiththa loves freedom lives lightly leading a simple life is a very honourable individual<\/span><\/p>\n

Amiththa is a very intellectual ,confident and optimistic individual who selects cautiously the roles when offered lends his full devotion with acute commitment. Amiththa possess a few degrees from universities having studied externally as learning is his prime specialty. He is unassuming down-to-earth individual very knowledgeable in abundant of fields had authored many books.
