Australia name squad for ICC Women\u2019s World Cup 2025<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The Cricket Australia National Selection Panel (NSP) has today named a 15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Women\u2019s World Cup to be played across India and Sri Lanka.<\/span><\/p>\n

Australia will finalise its preparations with three One-Day Internationals against hosts, India from 14-20 September in New Chandigarh and New Dehli, before opening its World Cup campaign against Trans-Tasman rivals, New Zealand in Indore on 1 October.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nicole Faltum and Charli Knott will join the squad for the ODI series, returning home for the start of the Women\u2019s National Cricket League (WNCL).<\/span><\/p>\n

Phoebe Litchfield, Georgia Voll, Sophie Molineux, Georgia Wareham and Kim Garth have been included in their first 50-over World Cup squad, while Grace Harris could play her first ODI World Cup match during the tournament having been a part of Australia\u2019s title-winning squad at the 2022 event in New Zealand.<\/span><\/p>\n

Molineux returns to the side after a knee injury sidelined her in December. She will likely miss Australia\u2019s ODIs against India but is expected to be available for the World Cup.<\/span><\/p>\n

National Selector, Shawn Flegler said:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cA World Cup in India is one of cricket\u2019s biggest assignments, but we believe this group is up for the challenge.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe valuable experience the squad has gained from several sub-continent tours in recent years, as well as exposure through the Women\u2019s Premier League will be beneficial in tackling the unique demands of Indian conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAcross the winter we\u2019ve seen some terrific performances right through the group – whether that be through the Australia A series, The Hundred or domestic cricket in England – with players personalising their preparations which looks to have put them in good stead.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNicole Faltum and Charli Knott continue to impress and will join the squad for the three ODIs as part of their ongoing development, before returning home for the opening rounds of the WNCL.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe extended nature of an ODI World Cup can be a challenge, and we believe this group has the depth and versatility to meet those demands.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Australia Team Physio, Kate Beerworth said:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSophie Molineux is progressing well in her return from a knee injury, and we anticipate she\u2019ll be available for the World Cup.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAlyssa Healy made a strong return in the recent \u2018A\u2019 series, and we\u2019re pleased with where she\u2019s at, with Georgia Wareham also back to full training following her adductor injury during the Hundred.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Australia will face each of the other seven nations across the round-robin format, with the top four sides progressing to the semi-finals on 29 and 30 October. The Final will be played on Sunday 2 November. <\/span>
