The song is self-explanatory. It really doesn’t matter where young guys like us were born, not one, that I know, could have claimed to be a Saint. I was, in fact, one of the worse ones. Not so bad, until I joined the Royal Ceylon Navy, then,I made up for it, big-time. Hope my eLanka readers enjoy the lyrics.<\/span><\/p>\n

I’m out all day, at play, by the swimming pool<\/span>
\n I’m drinking “happy beers”,for a sad & lonely fool<\/span>
\n The sun’s sinking low, as the neon lights the Street<\/span>
\n Kinda waking up, the devil in me.<\/span><\/p>\n

He’s always with me, & that’s right under my skin<\/span>
\n Lord, the things he makes me do, brother, it’s a sin<\/span>
\n When my whole life is coming apart at the seams (it)<\/span>
\n Seems never enough, for the devil in me.<\/span><\/p>\n

The devil in me, he’s a real sly cat<\/span>
\n I never have to look for trouble<\/span>
\n Always shows me where it’s at<\/span>
\n No, he won’t leave me alone, to any set degree<\/span>
\n Won’t let me be, this devil in me<\/span><\/p>\n

THEN<\/span><\/p>\n

I’ll drink all night till the barman tells me “No”<\/span>
\n He looks at my devil & then tells it where to go<\/span>
\n But this voice in my ear says it just wants to see<\/span>
\n “Just one more drink” says the devil in me<\/span><\/p>\n

Will miss roll-call tomorrow, i can already tell<\/span>
\n I’ll be “hung” way over, it’s gonna hurt like hell<\/span>
\n There’ll be no relief cos he just won’t let me be<\/span>
\n That bloody old devil, the devil in me.<\/span><\/p>\n

The devil in me, is a “special kind<\/span>
\n To find him, folks, I simply look behind<\/span>
\n And “speak of the devil”, his offers are all free<\/span>
