The 19th Annual Dinner Dance\u00a0<\/em>of the\u00a0Isipathana College OBA Vic Inc,\u00a0\u00a0Green Breeze 2018,<\/em>\u00a0held\u00a0at the Box Hill Town Hall on Saturday,\u00a02 June, was\u00a0a sold-out event.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Rarely had this gracious hall looked more splendid\u00a0than with the decor created by Melbourne Glee –\u00a0silhouettes of dancers\u00a0in shades of\u00a0green, stood atop\u00a0elegant\u00a0table centrepieces, while\u00a0flashing\u00a0strobe and disco\u00a0lights gave\u00a0the venue\u00a0a fairyland feel.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Pathana boys were well represented on the night, looking\u00a0resplendent in their double green College ties (formerly\u00a0Greenlands College),\u00a0proudly displayed during the line-up for singing of the College\u00a0anthem in Sinhala.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There was no doubt that\u00a0President Manoj\u00a0Fernando, ably assisted\u00a0by his\u00a0OBA Committee of\u00a02017-18, had excelled in their efforts to provide an all-round quality event for members,\u00a0families,\u00a0well-wishers,\u00a0and friends,\u00a0supported\u00a0with generous\u00a0financial and non-financial donations from OBA sponsors and associates.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Past President Randy Pietersz was a\u00a0guest\u00a0of the President,\u00a0while Amal Edisooriya, President of the Isipathana OBA UK sent greetings\u00a0on behalf of the UK contingent. Brother school,\u00a0Thurstan College representatives reserved\u00a0a table and were seen enjoying the tremendous night.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A violin sonata set the mood to start, building up to a\u00a0packed floor of 360 energetic guests dancing\u00a0all night to the sounds of vintage crooner Desmond de Silva backed by Tantra and\u00a0support act\u00a0DJ Warren J. Singing his usual\u00a0irrepressible English evergreens and Sinhala bailas, Desmond drew\u00a0loud applause and interaction from the crowd with\u00a0his ability to mix both styles of music.\u00a0Tantra and DJ Warren worked their music well to please the crowd.<\/span><\/p>\n

Relatively new to the Sri Lankan dance scene, caterers Vindhi Foods provided an unusual and sumptuous buffet and pre- and post-dinner refreshments.<\/span><\/p>\n

The major prize\u00a0was a return airfare to Sri Lanka donated by Dhammika Sanjeewa\u00a0of Sri Lankan Airlines.\u00a0Auctioned by\u00a0Compere Tyronne Seneviratne,\u00a0active bidding achieved\u00a0a\u00a0price for the ticket well above expectations. Ladies’\u00a0gifts and\u00a0raffle prizes were the generous donations of sponsors, as was the impressive souvenir.<\/span><\/p>\n

Issipathana College has a lot to boast about, with its OBA members achieving professional heights in Australia, not to mention the College’s academic and sporting successes in Sri Lanka, Pathana boys continuing to maintain high standards in all of their endeavours.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Isipathana OBA Victoria remains\u00a0very active, organising family activities to nurture\u00a0and strengthen\u00a0ties with Alumni and their families\u00a0and conducting fundraisers\u00a0to help support their beloved College in its programs to\u00a0excel in studies and sport.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

From all accounts, the Green Breeze 2018<\/em> revellers had a wonderful time, taking with them memories of the night, made possible by the stunning images created by Blue Tulip Creative, photographers and cinematography.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Congratulations to the President and his Committee for a successful night.<\/span><\/p>\n
