It was the same story with coconut oil because of the saturated fat<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">contained in them and the fear that it will cause heart disease.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"> Today, we know that eating eggs do not\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">nfluence the serum cholesterol numbers,\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000080;\">and you could enjoy two eggs a day with no\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000080;\">guilt. Your cholesterol levels are more\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000080;\">influenced by the saturated and trans-fat\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000080;\">you eat in such food. Studies show that<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000080;\">eggs consistently raise HDL (the good)\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000080;\">cholesterol<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #ff0000;\">New research has shown that eating an egg a day may protect against<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #ff0000;\">cardiovascular disease, according to a study published online May 21 by the<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #ff0000;\">journal Heart. Researchers found that people who ate one egg every morning<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #ff0000;\">had an 18% lower risk of dying from cardiovascular disease and a 28%<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #ff0000;\">lower risk of having a haemorrhagic stroke, compared with people who did<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #ff0000;\">not eat eggs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">This study was on more than 400,000 adults ages between 30 to 79. All participants\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">were from 10 survey sites in China. The participants were given eggs to eat and were\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">traced their health for nearly nine years using registries and other methods.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">So, there you are- you can eat at least one egg with breakfast every morning, and your\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">risk of developing cardiovascular disease, ischemic heart disease, heart attacks and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">related events, haemorrhagic stroke and ischemic stroke are far more less than those\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">who don\u2019t eat eggs. (ref: Harvard Women\u2019s Health Watch)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">Eggs contain good quality protein and are a good source of healthy fats including<\/span><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">omeg-3 fats. You can eat up to six or seven eggs each week. Eating omega-3 enriched\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">eggs can lower your blood triglycerides.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">A single medium sized egg contains 186 mg of cholesterol, which is 62% of the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">recommended daily intake.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">Leave out the bacon and restrict your butter. Always, eat whole meal bread and avoid\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">eating white bread though tastier.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">The healthiest way to eat eggs is to boil, poach or scramble them using low fat milk.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">A health breakfast would be making a three-egg omelette with capsicum, spinach and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">mushroom and eat on a slice of whole meal bread.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">Fortunately, Sri Lankans can now eat wholemeal grainy bread as they are available in\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">the super-markets, but unfortunately, they are double the price of white bread and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">much smaller in size.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">Can you eat scrambled eggs every day?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080; font-size: 20px;\">Yes, is the answer.
