ABOUT AMAWATURA BUDDHIST CENTRE (Inc)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Amawatura Buddhist Centre was set up in 2015 by Dr Gamani Goonetilleka,\u00a0<\/span>Ven Ratmalane\u2019 Sirisumana Nayake\u2019 Thero, Ven Hapugoda Buddhadatta Nayake\u2019 Thero\u00a0<\/span>with overseeing advice from Ven Dr Ratmalane\u2019 Somaloka Thero, in Sydney Australia.\u00a0<\/span>We were Incorporated in March 2016 and subsequently registered as a \u2018not for profit\u2019\u00a0<\/span>charity in Australia.
\n<\/span>
\nAustralia is a very successful multicultural nation and we are proud to be a part of it.\u00a0<\/span>Access to Sri Lankan Buddhist monks in the Sydney region is limited as the small\u00a0<\/span>numbers of monks present at the Sri Lankan Buddhist temples in Sydney region are\u00a0<\/span>extremely hard pressed to find the time to engage in various Buddhist cultural aspects\u00a0<\/span>to help the Sri Lankan Buddhists and other interested persons in the diverse community.\u00a0<\/span>Amawatura Buddhist Centre (Inc) is proceeding to develop a \u2018Sri Lankan Buddhist\u00a0<\/span>Cultural Centre\u2019 involving establishment of a Buddhist monks\u2019 residence, a \u2019place of\u00a0<\/span>Buddhist worship\u2019, and a Buddhist Library. We hope to have a complete Buddhist\u00a0<\/span>cultural programme, much more than we offer now. Till we secure a permanent \u2018Place of\u00a0<\/span>Worship\u2019, all our functions such as \u2018Poya\u2019 Full moon day \u2018Sil\u2019 programs, Vesak and Katina\u00a0<\/span>celebrations, other significant events in the Buddhist Calendar which attract a\u00a0<\/span>reasonable number of devotees are held in Halls hired for the purpose. As of now our\u00a0<\/span>resident monks are available to visit households for Almsgivings, Buddhist blessing\u00a0<\/span>ceremonies, accept invitations for Buddhist sermons, Pirith Chanting and other\u00a0<\/span>necessary Buddhist Cultural activities to help the Sinhala speaking Buddhists and others\u00a0<\/span>in the Australian, Chinese, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Burmese, Indian and other\u00a0<\/span>communities. The idea is to offer spiritually essential Buddhist cultural support, teach\u00a0<\/span>Mindfulness, Insight Meditation, and interact with devotees in brotherhood. Our\u00a0<\/span>Committee has Sinhalese, Tamil, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Indian persons, all working\u00a0<\/span>together with the wider Buddhist community to enrich each other\u2019s lives in a manner of\u00a0<\/span>\u2018UNITY IN DIVERSITY\u2019.<\/em><\/strong>

\nWe are a small but Incorporated and registered charity in Australia and actively seek\u00a0<\/span>donations to complete this project towards establishment of a permanent \u2018Place of\u00a0<\/span>worship\u2019 to better serve the Buddhist public and others in necessitous circumstances in\u00a0<\/span>Sydney NSW Australia.
