Victoria\u2019s death toll rises to 38<\/span><\/h2>\nMr Andrews said three Victorians died from the virus in the past 24 hours. \nState of emergency extended<\/span>
\n<\/strong>
\nHealth Minister Jenny Mikakos said Victoria\u2019s state of emergency had been extended until August 16.<\/span><\/p>\n\u201cThat decision has been made acting on the advice of the chief health officer, given that we continue to see rising case numbers, increasing numbers of people being hospitalised and sadly also increasing fatalities,\u201d Ms Mikakos said.<\/span><\/p>\n\u201cAnd today we have seen a further 20 Victorians being hospitalised and sadly a further three lives lost and I want to express my condolences to each of those families as well.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
Concern over case numbers<\/span><\/h2>\nVictoria recorded 363 new cases on Sunday following 217 reported on Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\nProfessor Sutton was asked what he thought about numbers continuing to decrease and increase.<\/span><\/p>\n\u201cIt is concerning,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\nProf Sutton said this fluctuation was why the government was implementing the new masks measure.<\/span><\/p>\n\u201cWe’re not going to wait for numbers to decrease.
