Where do the words syrup, sherbet, and sorbet come from? The Persian Empire, where\u00a0sharbat\u00a0<\/em>was enjoyed 2,400 years ago.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This history of ice cream also takes us to 1700s Spain, where a waiter in a brown coat (above<\/em>) delivers Spanish frozen mousse in this Valencian tilework, now at Madrid\u2019s Museum of Decorative Arts.<\/span><\/p>\n
