One of the best perks to be offered \u2013 especially when one has been fortunate to get to the age that I am \u2013 is to be driven\/taken\u00a0 to\u00a0 parties or places of entertainment particularly after the sun has set.\u00a0 Such was my privilege when my worthy young cousin Ken picked my wife and self to enjoy a night of conviviality and fun on Friday 2nd October. It was the occasion of the traditional\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u2018Break-up Party\u2019<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0that follows the final official Committee meeting for the calendar year.<\/span><\/p>\n

It had been a wet evening and the car-park at the Innaloo venue was full.\u00a0 I\u2019m certain that even if I had \u2013miraculously \u2013 been able to have cycled there\u00a0 I would not have found a spot to park my bike.. The Sasuke Isodaya Japanese Restaurant\/Bar with an upstairs location was the chosen space for the night\u2019s doings. Though the short but steep climb was a tad perilous for my dodgy old pins the interior was warm and cosy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Including the supportive partners of the WASLA Committee there was a gathering of over twenty bodies in the restaurant. Reflecting\u2013 it seems all this happened a much longer time ago \u2013 a phenomenon that may be attributed\u00a0 a `psychological mind-play\u2019 due to the disastrous pandemic that has devastated the world in this Year of the Rat.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The WASLA Committee concluded\u00a0 its formal final procedures in a very tolerable lapse of time\u00a0 and then it\u00a0 was sing-song\u00a0\u2018welawa\u2019<\/em>\u00a0with\u00a0 members and invitees attending to their personal watering and feeding needs. To be truthful \u2013 though the location and the `brand\u2019 was Nipponese in name and ownership \u2013 the fare \u2013 in my reckoning\u2019 was \u2018pseudo-Japanese, but tasty. Table service \u2013 mainly by a tall polite and pleasant young Indian man- was spot on and the Manager and his partner too were very friendly\u00a0 Whilst the meeting was in progress we invitees occupied ourselves with the usual interchange of harmless gossip and our individual acquisitions of the latest in\u00a0 FB and other cyber knowledge. I\u00a0 – self-appointed `official photographer\u2019 went around harassing and intruding on the others with the click of my humble Canon hoping at least some of the `candids\u2019 come out\u00a0 fine Though there was a licensed bar that served all types\u00a0 nearly every one of us carried in their own favoured BYO wine – for a minimal charge,.<\/span><\/p>\n

Getting back to the sing-song \u2013 Cross my heart \u2013 on and off \u2013 I have had the enjoyment of\u00a0 being either a serving\u00a0 Committee Member or an invitee for nearly 40 years\u00a0 at these get-togethers \u2013\u00a0 the\u00a0 vibes and song on this occasion\u00a0REALLY ROCKED<\/strong>! It was one of the best of many great previous\u00a0\u00a0`bajaws\u2019<\/em>\u00a0and was filled with warmth, jollity and happy camaraderie. Everyone contributed their bit base,soprano, tenor, falsetto, Ken on spoons, Ranjit on guitar \u2013 Roshan \u2013specialist\u00a0 bailas vocals\u00a0 and even `Pope\u2019 Don Francis – light vocals – excelled. It truly was a\u00a0Damn Fine\u00a0 Party<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 fabulous\u00a0 mutual exchange of the warmest of camaraderie. Keep On Carrying On \u2013 Break-Ups …Looong may they live on!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
