LIMITED NUMBERS TO ATTEND AUSTRALIA DAY EVENTS IN SYDNEY AS LEGENDARY ARTIST LINE UP ANNOUNCED<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

A limited number of free tickets will be made available to members of the public, joining frontline workers who have been invited to Australia Day 2021 events in Sydney next week.<\/span><\/p>\n

Australia Day Council of NSW Chair, Andrew Parker said that while Australia Day 2021 will be different this year, the community will still have an opportunity to celebrate our national day in a COVID-Safe way.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis Australia Day we will have fewer events, with smaller crowds and everyone will be able to watch the celebrations at home on ABC TV,\u201d Mr Parker said.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been guided by health advice and are pleased to confirm today that 500 frontline workers have been offered tickets to attend the Australia Day Live concert at the Sydney Opera House.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Mr Parker said a further 500 tickets will be available to the public to view Australia Day Live fireworks from the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) lawn with stage performances watched via a screen, and up to 1,200 free tickets for\u00a0the\u00a0<\/strong>WugulOra Morning Ceremony at Sydney\u2019s Barangaroo Reserve.<\/span><\/p>\n

Circular Quay will be closed to the public after 5pm so only those with a ticket or confirmed venue booking will be allowed in the precinct and on-site QR check-ins will be required.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFrom sunrise to sunset, a diverse line-up of artists will perform and entertain the nation with everyone able to watch on from home,\u201d Mr Parker said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Australia Day begins with the\u00a0WugulOra Morning Ceremony at Sydney\u2019s Barangaroo Reserve<\/strong>. This significant and symbolic event reminds us that Australia\u2019s First Nations people are the foundation of our nation\u2019s story and continue to maintain the world’s oldest living culture. The event celebrates\u00a0Aboriginal culture through music, dance, language and ceremony. The Governor of NSW and NSW Premier will speak at the ceremony.<\/span><\/p>\n

Renowned soul singer and songwriter,\u00a0Emma Donovan<\/strong>\u00a0will perform the beautiful ballad\u00a0Yil Lull<\/em>\u00a0written by Joe Geia in the 70s, accompanied by\u00a0William Barton<\/strong>\u00a0on digeridoo.<\/span><\/p>\n

Into the night, Australia Day Live at Sydney Opera House Forecourt and Circular Quay will once again entertain and inspire with a star-studded line-up of Aussie artists\u00a0including\u00a0Delta Goodrem<\/strong>,\u00a0Dami Im\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Casey Donovan<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Joining these female powerhouses is\u00a0First Nations pop sensation\u00a0Mitch Tambo;\u00a0<\/strong>music legend\u00a0Iva Davies,\u00a0<\/strong>who with world-renowned didgeridoo player\u00a0William Barton,\u00a0<\/strong>will perform a ground-breaking opening segment that looks at Circular Quay when it was known as Warrane; one of Australia’s most versatile performing artists\u00a0Todd McKenney\u00a0<\/strong>with the cast of\u00a0Shrek The Musical<\/em>; and tenor\u00a0Lorenzo Rositano\u00a0<\/strong>will entertain the nation with much loved classics.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Australia Day Live is a fitting finale to our national day with the unique concert taking place both on land and water, featuring live musical performances choreographed to a flotilla of yachts, jet-skis, fly boarders and alighting and fireworks display on Sydney Harbour.\u00a0There will be\u00a0tributes to NSW frontline workers, including\u00a0projections on the Sydney Opera House sails.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beloved superstar\u00a0Delta Goodrem<\/strong>\u00a0is ready to shine and share her magical voice at Australia Day Live. \u201cAs a proud Australian, I am honoured to perform at this year\u2019s Australia Day Live at the Sydney Opera House forecourt to thank all our frontline workers,\u201d Delta said.<\/span><\/p>\n

And\u00a0Dami Im,\u00a0<\/strong>who\u00a0<\/strong>first captured\u00a0our hearts when she won\u00a0The X Factor Australia<\/em>\u00a0in 2013 and represented Australia at Eurovision in 2016,\u00a0also can\u2019t wait to perform for the second time at Australia Day Live, following on from her 2018 Australia Day performance.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s been a tough year for all Australians – with national disasters and the pandemic, yet we’ve all been able to come together as we always do. This Australia Day, let\u2019s celebrate our resilience and ability to work through tough times,\u201d Ms Im said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another Australia Day Live favourite \u2013\u00a0Casey Donovan<\/strong>, said Australia Day is a time to stop and reflect on the previous year and how far we have come as a country and a community.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/strong>Being an Indigenous Australian means that I am proud to call Australia home. And Australia Day Live is a great way to celebrate,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Australia Day in Sydney creative director,\u00a0John Foreman OAM<\/strong>\u00a0said \u201cour vision for this event is to create hope, optimism and to pay tribute to our nation by showcasing diverse talent performing iconic Aussie hits and it\u2019s great that we can now offer some tickets to a live audience on the forecourt and one location in Circular Quay.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s about respecting our differences and looking to the future.
