The world is what you want to make of it<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-61303 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/websitedesigns.com.au\/elankanew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Sachith-Wickramasuriya.jpg\" alt=\"Sachith Wickramasuriya\" width=\"65\" height=\"78\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">Sachith Wickramasuriya<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">Sachith is a Senior Consultant in Finance at KPMG Brisbane office.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">Reflecting on my article written in <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">2008 when I was 12, I&#8217;ve come to realise, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">The world is what you want to make of it. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">For those of you who don&#8217;t know me, one of my greatest passions <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">when I was going through primary and secondary schools was competing on the track. At the time of writing my previous article I was <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">reflecting on competing in my first national carnival where I represented Queensland in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay. This experience underpinned a hunger and drive to succeed. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">Through secondary school (ages 13 to 17), sprinting became a routine,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">and the track was my second home. The desire to succeed quickly <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">transferred to schooling. Balancing my passion for track with secondary school was a tricky task but with the support of family and <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">friends I was able to realise my full track potential whilst graduating <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">with an OP 2.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">With an OP2 and a keen interest in statistical mathematics I ventured <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">to Sydney to study a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies and Commerce at <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">the University of New South Wales. For the first couple of years, I <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">kept up with my track ambitions, but I slowly realised that in order to <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">do as well as I wanted to at university, sacrifices had to be made. So, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">my time competing on the track ended with my highest accolade being <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">a silver medal at the national championship in the Under 18 100m. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">After spending four years at university I graduated from university<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">with a triple major in Actuarial Studies, Business Economics and Finance. I am currently working at KPMG as a Senior Consultant in the <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">Management Consulting at the Brisbane office and am loving every<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-61304 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/websitedesigns.com.au\/elankanew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Where-they-are-now.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"430\" height=\"199\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">second of it. Consulting is a very dynamic profession with each project being different from the last. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">Reflecting on the decisions that have shaped my life, I wouldn&#8217;t have <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">done anything differently as it has allowed me to dive into unfamiliar <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">environments, build life-long friendships interstate and pursue my <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">passions. Pursuing your dreams in any stage of your life is crucial to <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">uncovering your identity paving a path for the future.
