On the <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">full moon day in the month of Vesak, Queen Maha Maya, who was <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">pregnant, was on a journey through the Sal grove to see her parents. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">On her way, she gave birth to a prince in the Sal grove. This was about <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">2644 years ago. The prince was named Siddhartha Gautama. He lived <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">in a palace with every luxury at his command.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">At a young age, he was confronted <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">with the reality of life and the suffering of humankind. Siddhartha, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">at the age of 29 years, gave up his <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">wealth and position as a prince to <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">seek enlightenment as a spiritual <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">ascetic. His goal was to find a path <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">out of this universal suffering of all <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">beings. After 6 years of strenuous <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">searching, Siddhartha attained <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">Enlightenment on the full moon <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">day of Vesak. He found the goal of Nibbana. He became the Buddha,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">\u201cThe Enlightened One\u201d. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">He preached the path to others for 45 years. He taught that wisdom, <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">kindness, patience, generosity, and compassion were important <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">virtues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><!--more--><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">The heart of the teachings of the Buddha is contained in the teachings <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">of the Four Noble Truths, namely,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">\uf0b7 The noble truth of suffering or Dukkha<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">\uf0b7 The noble truth of the cause of suffering, Samudaya<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">\uf0b7 The noble truth of the cessation of suffering, Nirhodha<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">\uf0b7 The noble truth of the path, which leads to the cessation of all<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">sufferings, Magga <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">Buddha\u2019s teaching is based on cause and effect. Buddha taught that <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">desire and ignorance lie at the root of suffering. The inability to fulfill <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">all desires ends with suffering.
