Sri Lanka Sports Association Cricket Carnival<\/span><\/h1>\n

Sri Sumangala College Old Boys were crowned Carnival of Cricket <\/span>champions at the Sri Lanka Sports Association\u2019s 6th annual event <\/span>held on April 10 and 11 at Camp Hill.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe tournament was keenly contested, with Sri Sumangala defeating <\/span>Dharmaraja College by 14 runs in the final.<\/span>
\nSome matches went down to the wire, with Sri Sumangala beating <\/span>Ananda by one run in a last-ball thriller in the semi-final game.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The carnival is normally run in two divisions \u2013 Schools and Open <\/span>Clubs \u2013 but due to heavy rain in the preceding week, the club event <\/span>was postponed as the turf wicket on Oval 3 at the Whites Hill Reserve Grounds was unplayable. The schools\u2019 division, with nine <\/span>teams, was able to go ahead on the drier ovals.<\/span>
\nSLSAQ president Lal Mendis said that despite the curtailed event, <\/span>the carnival was a huge success and attracted more than 300 players <\/span>and spectators across the two days. The quality of cricket also was of <\/span>a high standard.<\/span>
\nHe thanked the councillors from Holland Park, Coorparoo and <\/span>Calamvale wards for their continued support and sponsorship of the <\/span>tournament via the Lord Mayor\u2019s Community Fund.<\/span>
