Thomas\u2019 College Old Boys Association Australia OBA Melbourne \u2013 Newsletter \u2013 May 2021<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the STC OBA Melbourne was held at the Mount Waverley Community <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">Centre on Friday February 12th at 6.30pm. The meeting went ahead in spite of a Covid 19 lockdown announced<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">by the Victorian Government that became effective from midnight on the day of the meeting. Although, as <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">expected, there were cancellations around 50 members attended the meeting that followed strict Covid <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">protocols. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">The meeting noted that in spite of the cancellations of the regular OBA activities, innovative fundraising <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">activities, namely Royal-Thomian Live Broadcast and Melbourne Cup Draw, were undertaken. That boosted<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">the OBA\u2019s finances. The Executive Committee continued to hold monthly meetings via Zoom for most of the <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">previous year and kept the membership informed of the developments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">The members endorsed the current President, Peneeth Goonawardena, to continue to serve in the position of <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">President for the next year. The services of the Executive Committee members who were not continuing were<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">acknowledged while welcoming the replacements. The President in his remarks, thanked the membership for <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">their continued support and informed them of the 50th Anniversary of the OBA in 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-66426\" src=\"https:\/\/websitedesigns.com.au\/elankanew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/The-Annual-General-Meeting-2021-2-600x229.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"229\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">Trevor Meares (Ex-President of the OBA) received the President\u2019s Award for 2021 for his dedicated service and<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">support of the OBA over many decades.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">The meeting was followed by the traditional social with dinner and drinks.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>STC OBA Melbourne &#8211; The Annual General Meeting 2021 Source:Thomiana \u2013 S.
