Do I always give thanks in all circumstances? Do I pray enough?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Is prayer my first response or my last resort?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">When I\u2019m in desperate need, when I\u2019m frightened from a health concern or pulled out of my comfort zone, I easily, quickly go to prayer. \u201cHelp, Lord!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Is how I pray or what I pray for important?<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Sometimes I can be legalistic and feel that if I pray on my knees maybe God will hear me better. I know that\u2019s not true. But it makes me feel closer to God. Pleading with him letting him know what\u2019s on my heart at the time. The reality is that there are no rules on what position our body must be in when we talk to God as long as we come in humility.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\"><strong>Spreading hands out (2 Chron. 6:13b)<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\"><em>\u201cHe stood on the platform and then knelt down before the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands toward heaven.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">\u00a0<strong>Kneeling (Eph. 3:14)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\"><em><sup>\u201c<\/sup><\/em><em>For this reason I kneel before the Father,\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\"><strong>Standing (Luke 18:10-13)<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><em><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><em>\u201cTwo men went up to the temple to pray,\u00a0one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em><sup>11\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><em>The Pharisee stood by himself\u00a0and prayed: \u2018God, I thank you that I am not like other people\u2014robbers, evildoers, adulterers\u2014or even like this tax collector.<\/em><em>\u00a0<\/em><em><sup>12\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><em>I fast\u00a0twice a week and give a tenth\u00a0of all I get.\u2019<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\"><em><sup>13\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><em>\u201cBut the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast\u00a0and said, \u2018God, have mercy on me, a sinner.\u2019<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\"><strong>Lying face down (Matt. 26:39)<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><em><sup>39\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><em>Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed,\u00a0<\/em><em>\u201cMy Father, if it is possible, may this cup\u00a0be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">The above are all mentioned in the Bible as positions for prayer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">The most important thing about praying is to do it, with a sincere heart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\"><strong>Phil. 4:6<\/strong>\u00a0<em>\u201cDo not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">Whether we kneel or stand before God, whether we lift our hands heavenward or close our eyes so we can better focus on God\u2014it is not the posture of our body, but of our heart that is important. Everything we do \u201c<em>flows from [our heart]<\/em>\u201d (Prov.4:23). When we pray, may our hearts always be bowed in adoration, gratitude, and humility to God, for we know that His eyes are \u201c<em>open and [His] ears attentive to the prayers\u201d of His people<\/em>\u00a0(2 Chron. 6:40).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #000000;\">What\u2019s on your mind? Thanks or burdens? Whatever it is, your loving God wants to hear your heart.
